Kevin Scott “Big Boy” Hayes, age 55, of Cordele passed away at Crisp Regional Hospital on December 21, 2024. He was the son of the late Edison Joseph Hayes and Mary Nell Morrison Hayes. “Big Boy” as he was known, worked as a carpenter and also had worked at Ward’s Machine Shop. Being a carpenter, he thoroughly enjoyed building things putting his construction talents to work with many projects. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish. His love extended beyond fishing as the Georgia Bulldogs was his favorite team to pull for and cheer on. In his younger days, baseball was a passion he enjoyed playing. His friends were extremely important to him and he loved to hang out with them for all occasions. Kevin is survived by sister, Monica Lynn Salter, and her husband, Mark, of Cordele, GA, and his brother, Brain Hayes, and his wife, Missy, of Jackson, GA, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service honoring Scott “Big Boy” Hayes on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 4:00 pm, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The family will receive guests prior to the memorial service in the Rainey Chapel beginning at 3:00 pm. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
