On November 19, 2024, history enthusiasts and community members are invited
to a special screening of A President in Our Midst: Franklin Delano Roosevelt at Lake Blackshear
Resort. This powerful documentary highlights President Franklin D. Roosevelt's deep
connections with Georgia, including a historic stop in Cordele, (November 18, 1933) where he
spoke on Rural Electrification and the creation of Lake Blackshear—pivotal topics that helped
shape the local landscape and FDR’s transformative policies.
The evening will feature Executive Producer Dan White as a special guest. Reflecting on the
making of the film, White shares, “Serving as Executive Producer of this film and engaging the
talents of over 100 Georgians in its creation was a wonderful experience. I hope people seeing
this film will appreciate the story of FDR in Georgia and its national implications.”
Tickets are $10 per person, with light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar available. Doors open at
6:00 PM, and the program begins at 6:30 PM. Sponsorship tables for six are available at $100
