CRISP COUNTY, GA (September 18, 2024): On September 17, 2024, Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies detained a 12-year-old male and charged him with Terrorist Threats and Acts and Misuse of 9-1-1 after he called 9-1-1 and made threats of school violence.

This marks the fourth student in the Crisp County School system charged with Terrorist Threats and Acts this month. Although none of these threats were credible, they exhausted local, state, and federal resources.

“This is a costly issue for Crisp County. Protecting our youth isn’t just the responsibility of the schools or law enforcement—parents, you must do your part, and you will be held accountable for your child’s actions. We will continue to take all threats to our community’s safety seriously and investigate every one of them thoroughly. Whether it’s a ‘joke,’ a social media stunt, or something else, we will respond with zero tolerance,” stated Sheriff Billy Hancock.
