Cordele Police Department
August 23, 2024 just before 12:00 pm, while checking on a local business, one of our Detectives spotted nineteen-year-old Michael Bernard Waters, who is known to have several active warrants.
Once officers attempted to place Waters under arrest, he fled and hid on foot, leaving the vehicle he was in behind. Our officers and Crisp County Deputies searched the area and located Waters, who attempted to escape on foot again. After chasing him on foot, he was finally apprehended without incident. A bag containing suspected Ecstasy and a bag containing suspected Marijuana was located subsequently after his arrest.
Michael Waters already had seven active warrants for his arrest: Four Counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and three counts of criminal trespass in the third degree.
Waters was charged with the following additional charges from today’s incident:
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within a thousand feet of a housing authority
- Possession of Marijuana
- Trafficking in Ecstasy
- Obstruction of an Officer
- Giving a false name and information to a police officer
- Forgery in the Fourth Degree
We would like to thank the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office for assisting our officers in the apprehension of Michael Waters.
