CORDELE — It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bobby Joe Brown, 73, at his home on Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2024, in Cordele. Funeral services to honor his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Prior to the service, the family will be receiving friends at the funeral home starting at 2 p.m. A family burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.

Bobby was born in Vienna, Georgia to the late Dewitt Stuard Brown and the late Myrtice L. Clements Brown. He is also preceded in death by his brother William Stuard Brown.

Bobby, a member of the Baptist faith, held a special relationship with his Lord. He was well-known for his passion for weightlifting and was a dedicated fan of the Atlanta Braves and Alabama Football. Bobby was a sociable individual who enjoyed engaging in conversations and had a profound love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He found great joy in supporting his granddaughter during her softball games.

Bobby is survived by his wife Linda Brown of Cordele; his son and daughter-in-law Bradley and LeAnn Brown of Cordele; his siblings Billy “Wild Bill” Brown and his wife Judy of Cordele, Ann DeLoach of Perry, and Judy Hayslip of Cordele; and his four grandchildren Abigail Brown, Ava Brown, Ethan Pollock, and Annsley Hutchens all of Cordele.
