Glynes Lanelle Hurt née James, aged 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Cordele, Georgia, in the early morning on August 6, 2024. Born on January 11, 1942, in Crisp County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Aultman James and Lizzie Lou James (Bridges). Glynes was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Robert Toy Hurt III, and brothers, Randall Aultman James and Joel Charles James.

Glynes was a graduate of Crisp County High School (West Crisp) and went on to receive her degree in Nursing from Mercer University. Her passion for taking care of others was a lifelong pursuit both in her career and family life. She married Dr. Robert Toy Hurt Jr. on August 2, 1962 in Macon, Georgia. Together they built Hurt Family Dentistry in Cordele, where she contributed to the practice both as a dental hygienist and office manager. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for most of her early life and was proud of her Christian faith.

Glynes left behind an insurmountable legacy of love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love was boundless and unconditional. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Hurt Jr.; daughter, Gina Lanelle Hurt, and daughter-in-law, Joycelyn Anita Hurt (Bearce). Her surviving siblings are Robert Stanley James and his wife Mary, and Samuel Ray James and his wife Vicki. She was blessed with seven grandchildren; Ashley Lanelle Heuman (Deadwyler) and her husband Nick, Sutton Claire Lester (Waller) and her husband Lewis, Dr. Robert Toy Hurt IV and his wife Raquel, William Cole Hurt, Braxton Chance Peterson and his wife Isabella, Aultman James Hurt, and Wayne Dorn Hodgson III. She has four great grandchildren, Emma Jewel Heuman, Caroline Josie Heuman, Loriana Rose Hurt, and James Drayton Lester.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 10, 2024 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services of Cordele. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the service commences. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
