Crisp County 4-H’ers had the opportunity to compete against other 4-H’ers across the State of Georgia from July 23-26 in Atlanta at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This is an all expenses paid trip for the delegates and a great opportunity for them to meet new people and test their skills. The participants totaled 210 4-H’ers that took part in the opportunity to compete to become a Master 4-H’er! Crisp County had three 4-H’ers that took part in this Annual Event. Luke Bartlett participated in Outdoor Recreation (Turkeys), Bri Mauldin participated in Food Labs: Dairy Foods, and Kylee Odom participated in Dog Care and Training. “They all did an amazing job,” says Randy West who is the Crisp County 4-H agent and County Extension Coordinator. Each 4-H’er was graded on their portfolios, interviewing skills as well as, their demonstrations to give them an overall score to determine the Master 4-H’ers in each project area.
Bri Mauldin had the privilege of becoming a Master 4-H’er in Food Lab: Dairy Foods in her Senior Year. Please join in to Celebrate Bri for her accomplishment and the staff who helped her accomplish this great honor: FACS Agent Mrs. Liz Clarke and Program Assistant Mrs. Janie Wright. They would also like to recognize Luke Bartlett and Kylee Odom for their hard work and commitment to their project areas and to the 4-H program. Randy West said, “We know that this is the start of something great as each 4-H’er will compete next year aspiring to become Crisp County next Master 4-H’ers.”
While in Atlanta, the delegates had the opportunity to tour the Museum of Illusions and visit David Buster while being treated to a night of Pizza, Arcade games, dancing until your heart was content, and snow cones with all the trimmings. It was a night of fun with the 360 machine along with all the snacks and drinks that were at the 4-H’ers fingertips.
“Whew, what a night of fun!!!! Let’s not forget the friends you already knew and the new friends you met along the way to help carry on the Motto-Make the Best Better and the Slogan-Learn by Doing! 4-H Grows Here!!!” – Randy West
