A company that has been around for over 100 years is now closing their doors nationwide. The company started in 1904 and made it through many large historical moments in history, like the Great Depression, and the two world wars.
It is easy to blame our change in economy as the bad guy, but one of the large factors in businesses closing is Covid. This was due to the influx of people purchasing furniture and enhancing their homes whilst they were stuck in them for long periods of time during Covid. Which in turn was great for these businesses at the time, but unfortunately these businesses did not prepare for the extreme slowdown afterwards.
Recently the company has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy that allows debtors to reorganize their finances and resolve financial difficulties with creditors. They have now posted on their websites a huge liquidation sale.
We spoke with our local Badcock Home Furniture store located at 910 S 7th St, Cordele, GA, and they confirmed that yes they will be closing, but have not yet been given a definitive date from corporate. It could take a couple months, but again they are unsure and are left in the dark of when their doors will officially close.
