Jay Beck, an Albany native has recently come out with his eighth novel, and first murder mystery that takes place at Lake Blackshear Resort in Crisp County, Georgia. During the process of writing this book Beck spent sometime in Crisp County speaking with local agencies and businesses to incorporate fact with fiction. He spoke with Monica Simmons at the Chamber of Commerce who gave him some direction, and Captain Teresa Miller of the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office who gave him inspiration towards the law enforcement characters and how they conduct their investigations. Through out the book many local readers of Crisp County will recognize roads and locations mentioned which gives the story a stronger visual as you read.
This local murder mystery draws the reader into labyrinth as the waters of the lake lap around the shores edges to an unidentified body. The local law enforcement officers have their skills tested as they follow the twisting trail that will eventually lead them on a chase throughout the county. The story takes an unexpected turn as the support of the dog tracker woman helps the lead investigator sift through the evidence in search of the killers who are determined to escape.
