Yesterday, July 16th, just after 3:00 pm, officers responded to the Cordele-Crisp Carnegie Library at 115 E 11th Ave in reference to an indecent exposure case. Officers were made aware that an unknown male had exposed his genitals and pleasured himself while looking at an adult female and a small juvenile girl.
When the adult saw him, she immediately got the juvenile girl away and notified the library’s employees. During this time, the male left the library, walking Westbound on 11th Ave. Officers put out a bolo for a heavy-set black male wearing a red shirt, black shorts, grey socks, and red slippers.
A picture from the library’s surveillance camera was obtained and dispersed between our agency and the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office. Roughly two hours later, the male was identified by investigators at the Sheriff’s Office, and that information was passed to our officers. Officers and deputies went to his last known address after identifying the male as forty-six-year-old Clinton Whitehead of Cordele. There, they made contact with Whitehead and his mother, who also lived at the residence. Whitehead was taken into custody without incident. After being transported to the police department for processing, he was charged with Child Molestation and Public Indecency and then taken to the Crisp County Jail.
We want to thank the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case, which led to the suspects’ quick apprehension.
