Evelyn Martin Souther, 86, of Cordele went home to be with her heavenly Father Friday, June 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband C.L. Souther, Sr., a brother Theron Martin; a sister and brother-in-law, Loudeal and John Holder; and a brother-in-law, James Vaughn. Born in Cordele she was the daughter of the late Theron and Eula Mae McDaniel Martin. Evelyn was a homemaker but had retired as a seamstress from Homestead Homes. She was a charter member of Omar Heights Baptist Church and loved her Lord. She loved raising chickens and looked forward to gathering the eggs everyday. She also had her home decorated with roosters and chickens. She enjoyed working in her beautiful flowers and crocheting. Her biggest passion in life though was her family. She loved to cook for them and Sunday afternoon around the Souther table was always enjoyed by the family. Evelyn is survived by her children, Cliff (Judy) Souther, Gail (Craig) Dorough, Frances “Duck” Souther and Linda Muller, all of Cordele; a sister, Norma Lee Vaughn of Cordele; four grandchildren, Myranda (Sy Lester) Souther, Samantha (Wesley) Jackson, Paul (Jessica) Souther and Stanton (Rilee Duckworth) Muller, all of Cordele; 11 great-grandchildren, M.J. Christopher, La’Rissa Souther, Kamori Smith, P.J. Souther, Jai Souther, Anastasia Allen, Malaysia Souther, Skylar Allen, Autumn Jackson, Kingston McKenzie and Jeremiah Souther; a sister-in-law, Dianne Martin; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends Dr. Fawzi Himada, Rema Himada and Jean-Gabriel Himada. The family would like to say a special thank you to Reflections Hospice, and all the nurses and caregivers for their love and care for Evelyn during her time of need. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2024, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. An online guest register is available at www.raineyfuneral.com
