Cordele Police Department
On May 14th, at approximately 0430 hrs, officers responded to the 500 block of N 2nd St in reference to a burglary in progress. Dispatchers stated that the caller saw two people attempting to gain entry into a nearby residence via a window and that they had also recently attempted to get inside a nearby vehicle.
Upon arriving, the officers discovered an open window and an air conditioner on the ground, indicating a break-in at the residence. The officers made entry and located two fifteen-year-old male juveniles hiding inside a closet. The juveniles were in possession of large screwdrivers and a multitool. It is worth noting that the homeowner was not present at the time.
Both juveniles were charged with Burglary 1st Degree and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime. The Department of Juvenile Justice was notified, and they directed both juveniles to be transported to a youth detention facility in Savannah.
We want to thank our officers for a job well done and the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Deputies for their assistance with this case.
