Shirley Ann Persall, age 72, of Cordele passed away on May 9, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. She was born in Abbeville, GA, to the late James Wilburn Sheffield and Margaret Henry Sheffield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris William “Billy” Persall, Jr.; two brothers, Billy Sheffield and Jack Sheffield; and two sisters, Pat Pearson and Frances Adams. Shirley loved to cook. Her family enjoyed her meals with fellowship and family time often. Shirley enjoyed expressing herself by dressing up and was always neat in her appearance. She loved to read, especially her Bible. Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her grandchildren and great-grandchild were the “apples of her eye.” Shirley is survived by two sons, Dorris William “DW” Persall III (Heidi), and Jerome Paxton “JP” Persall (Sherrie), both of Cordele; one brother, Charles Sheffield of Cordele; three grandchildren, Jerome “Paxton” Persall, Jr., Ashley “Anna Marie” Persall, and Karishma Patel; and one great-grandchild, Luanna Scarlet Persall-Cribb. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 4:00 pm. The family will receive guests prior to the service in the chapel also, beginning at 3:00 pm. Burial will take place after the funeral at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele.
