Ashburn Man Arrested with DUI

On May 5th, 2024, officers with the Cordele Police Department arrested Twenty-Five-Year-Old Triston Stephens of Ashburn after he was found to be driving under the influence and in possession of methamphetamine. Just after Midnight, officers responded to the Interstate I-75 Southbound Off-ramp at Exit 99, where a caller stated an abandoned vehicle was parked in the roadway. Upon arrival, the officers found it occupied by Triston Stephens, who was asleep in the driver’s seat. Stephens was believed to be under the influence and was arrested shortly after contact was made. A search of the vehicle he was in resulted in officers locating individual baggies of suspected methamphetamine that had a combined weight of over 9 ounces. Other drug paraphernalia was located including scales and baggies.
Along with the methamphetamine, a mushroom-like substance was also found. The Georgia State Patrol responded and assisted with the investigation. Stephens was arrested and transported to the Crisp County Law Enforcement Center after he was booked and processed at the Cordele Police Department. Stephens faces charges of Driving Under the Influence, Improper Stopping in the Roadway, and Driver to Exercise Due Care.
This is the second trafficking case made by Cordele Police in a month, as Forty-Eight-Year-Old Lesteria Dean was arrested on April 14th after he attempted to flee from a traffic stop. Dean sped away and crashed into another citizen’s vehicle, which a father and son occupied. Luckily, no one was hurt. Dean attempted to flee the accident on foot but was quickly apprehended by the pursuing officer. Dean was charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession of Oxycodone, Reckless Conduct, Drug Possession w/Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Ft of a Housing Project, Obstruction, Tampering with Evidence, Fleeing and attempting to Elude Police, Abandonment of Certain Dangerous Drugs.
