Carolyn Clements Brake of Cordele passed away at her residence Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, William E. Brake, Sr. in 2020. Born in Macon, she was the daughter of the late Charles Eugene Clements and Bessie Bostick Clements. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Lillian Criswell, Genie Rogers, Raymond Clements, Joe Clements, Richard Clements, C.T. Clements and Dorothy Clements. Carolyn was employed at Southern Bell Telephone Company. She also worked at the Cordele Livestock Sale Barn during auctions. She later retired as the office Manager with the Cordele-Crisp Recreation Department. Carolyn was an active member of 16th Avenue Church of Christ where she taught numerous classes. She volunteered in her community as a poll worker during elections, and with the American Cancer Society. Carolyn loved teaching aerobics and coaching various softball teams. She stayed active playing softball, volleyball and tennis. The most important part of her life and her accomplishments were her family and the time she was able to give to them. Carolyn is survived by five children and their spouses, Cindy and Steven Crenshaw and Buddy and Terry Ann Brake, all of Cordele, Wally and Katrina Brake of Brandon, FL, Christy Banks of San Antonio, TX and Patty and Grady Walker of Norcross; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Anne Clements and Kathryn Woodard; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Carl Wrye of Macon. No services will be held at this time.
