Due to forecasted heavy rains in the Flint River basin we are expecting above-normal flows in the Lake Blackshear area over the next few days. The current graphic from the National Weather Service is shown below.
Based on projected flows the Crisp County Power Commission has begun lowering the lake level at the Lake Blackshear Dam. Current plans are to lower the lake approximately 2 feet.
We will continue to monitor the situation and make periodic updates.
Residents are urged to use caution around waters which will be flowing swifter than normal.
