Cordele — Willis Carl Musselwhite, Jr. , 91, of Cordele, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Cordele Health and Rehab. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. , Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Arabi Cemetery in Arabi, Georgia. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Hughes and Wright Funeral Home.
He was born on October 2, 1932, in Arabi, Georgia to the late Willis Carl Musselwhite, Sr. and the late Mattie Pearl Stewart. Carl is also preceded in death by his siblings: Virgil Musselwhite, Ann Morgan, John Musselwhite, and Patricia Musselwhite.
Carl, known for his love of gardening, spent the early part of his life on the Family Farm in Arabi. He proudly served in the Army and afterwards pursued a career as an insurance agent with Woodmen of the World. He was a devoted member of Bay Spring Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce C. Musselwhite, his children Sheila Bullington and her husband Frank of Cordele and Keith Musselwhite and his wife Laurel of Byromville, Ga.; siblings: Ruth Helms of Newton, Alabama, and Bobby Musselwhite and his wife Yvonne of Pensacola, Florida; his grandchildren: Kevin Hughes and his wife Kathy, Nikki Murray and her husband Arthur, Taylor Musselwhite and his wife Shannon, Codey Musselwhite and his wife Jordan, Frank Bullington III and his wife Anna, and Grace Barry and her husband Will; and his great-grandchildren: Mia Hughes, Samuel Hughes, Sasha Hughes, Colette Bullington, Hayes Bullington and Hattie Lee Musselwhite.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Arabi Cemetery Fund in care of Craig Huckaby. The family would also like to thank Cordele Health and Rehab and Reflections Hospice for their compassionate care.
