Camp Chase S. Osborn (near Sylvester) of the South Georgia Council, BSA hosted
the 36 th Annual Frontier Heritage Days last weekend. The three day event included
demonstrations in blacksmithing, spinning, hide tanning, weaving, bow making,
cooking and other pioneer skills. Vendor’s made and sold many pioneer items
such as hats, knives and clothing. Competitions were held in black powder
shooting and tomahawk throwing.
South Georgia Council serves thousands of girls and boys through scouting in 28
South Georgia counties which are: Atkinson, Baker, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks
Calhoun, Clay, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Crisp, Dooly, Dougherty, Early, Echols,
Irwin, Lanier, Lee, Lowndes, Mitchell, Miller, Schley, Sumter, Terrell, Tift,
