Two Juveniles Arrested for Stealing a Car in the City

CRISP COUNTY- December 18, 2023
On December 16, 2023, at approximately 1:00 A.M., a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the city
limits of Cordele when he observed a black car speeding down W 17th Avenue. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver failed to stop and continued to speed and drive recklessly. Near the 500 block of S 6th Street, two occupants fled from the vehicle on foot while the vehicle was still in drive. The vehicle continued to roll and struck another parked vehicle. After a brief foot chase, Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to apprehend both subjects. Both subjects were juveniles, and after they were detained, they were transported to a Youth Detention Facility. Deputies also discovered the vehicle was stolen from Rainey’s Used Cars but had yet to be reported stolen.
A 14-year-old juvenile from Cordele, Georgia, faces the following charges:
- Fleeing or Attempting to Elude
- Theft by Taking
- (2) Counts Entering Auto
- Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway
- Obstruction
- (6) Counts Failure to Obey Stop Sign
- Aggressive Driving
A 15-year-old juvenile from Cordele, Georgia, faces the following charges:
- Theft by Taking
- (2) Counts Entering Auto
- Obstruction
