Aggravated Assault

On 12-16-2023, Officers with the Cordele Police Department responded to 412 W 16th Ave Odom’s Pool Room after 911 calls to dispatchers came in stating that there had been a shooting.
Upon the arrival of officers, they located one gunshot victim, a (thirty-two-year-old female), that they rendered emergency first aid to until EMS arrived on the scene. Another gunshot wound victim (a forty-four-year-old male) had already left the scene in a personal vehicle. The female was taken to Crisp Regional Hospital by EMS. Contact was later made with the male victim at Crisp Regional Hospital.
As the investigation progressed and was turned over to the Detective Division, it was determined that the forty-four-year-old male victim, who was identified as Jemiah Blount of Cordele, was working as Odom’s Pool Room security. Before the shooting occurred, Blount had gotten into a verbal altercation with an unidentified male, which led to shots being exchanged between Blount and the unknown male.
During the shooting, the female victim was standing across the street in the parking lot from Odom’s Pool Room when she was shot. Also, two vehicles were reported to have been shot during this incident, one of which was in the parking lot of Odom’s Pool Room and the other was driving on 16th Ave at the time.
Blount was arrested after he was treated at the hospital for his injuries. He was charged with the following:
Aggravated Assault
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes and Terrorist Acts.
