One Arrested Related to Multiple City Entering Autos

CRISP COUNTY- December 1, 2023
On November 30, 2023, around 1:30 A.M., Crisp County Communications E-911 dispatched law enforcement
to an entering auto Blackshear Road. A second call referencing an entering auto was dispatched around 2:00
A.M. Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies began patrolling the city in the area, looking for any suspicious activity.
At approximately 2:45 A.M., Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies encountered a subject on a bicycle with a
backpack and plastic crate with items. The subject was identified as Joseph Williams. Williams was wanted for
a probation violation and was arrested without incident.
Upon search of the backpack and plastic crate, Deputies located multiple cell phones, a laptop, an electronic
phone system, multiple ID’s, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Social Security Cards, an EBT card, cash app cards,
gloves, a flashlight, medications, notebook paper with Credit/Debit Card and Social Security Numbers, a simple
swipe credit/debit card reader, and other assorted power cords. Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have
linked these items to reported cases of entering autos in the city, as well as other thefts.
Joseph Williams, a 24-year-old male from Rochelle, Georgia, is charged with the following:
- (7) Counts of Identity Theft (Felony)
- 6) Counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft (Felony)
- (6) Counts of Theft by receiving stolen property (Misdemeanor)
- Possession of tools for commission of a crime (Felony)
- Entering Auto (Felony)
