Staff Reports
On 11-26-2023, an officer was flagged down while on patrol in the area of Enmark on N 7th St by a motorist who told the officer that he had just been shot. The victim, who was alert and able to communicate, told the officer that his nephew had shot him. Emergency first aid was rendered to the victim, who was able to say to the officer that he and his nephew had been in a verbal altercation just before his nephew shot him. EMS arrived on the scene and transported the sixty-one-year-old victim for further emergency treatment.
Shortly later, the suspect and nephew of the victim called 911 and told the dispatchers that he was the shooter and provided the address to where he was. Officers responded to the 400 block of W 8th Ave and placed forty-one-year-old Lee Brown of Cordele under arrest without incident after he identified himself as the shooter. Lee Brown was processed and later transported to the Crisp County LEC. Charges are pending.
This case remains active and is still under investigation by the Cordele Police Detective Division. We ask anyone with information about this incident to please contact the Cordele Police Department at 229.276.2921 or non-emergency 911 at 229.276.2690
Update: We spoke with the victim of the shooting who said that the shooting occured at his sisters house. He was parked outside of the house when he was shot. After he was shot he drove to Enmark where he flagged down a passing police officer. He also mentioned that the nephew who shot him has already been released with two charges that don’t include shooting the victim.
