For the fourth year in a row, Cordele Boy Scout Troop 270 stepped up to help the Concerned Citizens Who Care with their 21st Annual Thanksgiving food distribution program. The event is held each year at the Cordele Lions Club Fairgrounds the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
The Scouts earned service hours that count toward their Citizenship in the Community merit badge.
Mr. Johnny Dennis, who invited the Scouts to participate, founded the event, along with his wife Barbara. This year, 205 Turkeys, greens, and boxes of food (enough to feed 3-5 people for at least three days) were distributed to people in need from Crisp, Dooly, and Macon Counties.
Scouts who participated were Simon Baker, Jacob Frost, Cody Ngo, Benjamin Nipper, Jensen Wade, and Korey Watts. Adult Scouters who pitched in were Gene Baker, Britt Brinson, Terry Fennel, and David Wade.
If you know any boys, ages 11-17, who might like to “Live Scouting’s Adventure” or could benefit from learning leadership skills and service to others, bring him to the Cordele Boy Scout Hut most any Monday evening from 6:30-8:00.
