Staff Reports
Cordele Boy Scout Troop 270 spent parts of October 20-21 providing service at the Georgia Peanut Festival in Sylvester.
On Friday night and early Saturday morning, our Scouts and Scouters assisted vendors in unloading their wares at the vendors’ tent sites. The rest of Saturday was spent, along with members of Troops 3, 13, and 100, operating an inflatable BB range which is owned by the South Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Scores of kids were given the opportunity to shoot BB guns throughout the day.
While there was no charge to the kids to shoot, a donation box was set out that allowed folks to make donations that will be used to help defray costs for members of the Withlacoochee Lodge of the Order of the Arrow to attend the National Order of the Arrow Conference at the University of Colorado next summer.
Troop 270 Scouts Jacob Frost and Cody Ngo were joined by adult Scouters David Wade, Jody Fletcher and Britt Brinson. Scoutmaster John Frost’s daughter Sarah from Troop 13 helped add to the local flavor to the contingent.
