Mary Amelia Carter, 93 of Cordele, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at her residence.  Due to the government restrictions a private family graveside service only was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2020. The service was live streamed from Rainey Family Funeral Service website at www.raineyfuneral.com and on their Facebook page.

Amelia was born in Gulfport, Miss. and was the daughter of the late Lloyd Easterling and Florence Clancey Easterling. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, L.A. Easterling, Jr., Wallace Lee Easterling and Elizabeth Skelton. First and foremost, she was a Christian and faithful to her church, First Baptist of Cordele and her Sunday School Class. The wife of the late M.F. Carter, Jr., she was the mother of six children and still managed to work and made lasting memories while working at Jones Jewelry for many years. Amelia was always there to support and cheer on her children and grandchildren in all their athletic and life events. She was an avid bridge player and enjoy the fellowship with her friends. She loved to talk about and share her sweet memories of the “old neighborhood.”

She is survived by her children and their families: Millard and Merrily Carter and children, Thomas and Lauren Carter and their children, Eli, Bayce, Corban Jack and Audrianna, and daughter, Sara Carter, all of Gulfport, Miss.;  Hal and Karen Carter, Sr. and children, Hal and Andee Carter, Jr. and their children, Millee, Mollee, Claire and Caroline, all of Cordele; Jeff and Brooke Carter and their children, Blake and Grant of St. Simons Island, Katie and Max Barrett and their daughter, Murphy of Hendersonville, Tenn. and Bo and Sydne Carter and their son, Beckett of Cordele; Fred and Kim Carter and children, Hannah and Drew Keith and their children, Ada, Abby and Ruby, and Joey and Jordan Carter and their son, Harris; Fran Carter Sawyer and children, Brian and Katie Sawyer and their children, Kennedy and Camille and Rebecca and Bryan Stewart and their children, Abbie, Brynn and Sawyer; Tom and Charissa Carter and children, Laura Leigh and Johnathan Tillman and their children, Hattie Grace and John Parker, and son, J.T.
