Carole Jean Cox Dean, 86 of Cordele, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Fellowship Home at Cordelia Manor. Due to the government restrictions, a private family graveside service only was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Sunnyside Cemetery. The service was live streamed from Rainey Family Funeral Service’s website at www.raineyfuneral.com and on their Facebook page.

Born in Crisp County, Carole was the wife of the late Horace Lee Dean and the daughter of the late Dempsey Oren Edgar Cox and Mary Elizabeth Sheffield Cox. She was a retired J.S. Pate Kindergarten paraprofessional and a charter member of Grace Baptist Church, where she particularly enjoyed volunteering in the nursery.

Carole loved her family, her dogs, flea markets and pulling for the Braves. She was faithful instilling old-fashioned values and Christian living in the home. She and Horace traveled a lot, from RV trips to the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone  to airline flight conventions that took them to Greece, Mexico, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, and the New York World’s Fair.

Carole is survived by a daughter and her husband, Patsy and Jeff Grimsley, a daughter-in-law, Patty J. Dean, a sister, Joan Baldwin, a grandson and his wife, Brandon and Amanda Dean, all of Cordele; a granddaughter and her husband, Casie and Cote Jones of Pitts, and four great-grandchildren, Savannah and Garrett Dean of Cordele and Rylee and Rhett Jones of Pitts; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Lee Dean, a son, Rickey Lee Dean, and her siblings, Earl M. Cox, Sr., Adrian E. “Sonny” Cox, Mary Frances Cox, Betty C. Jacobs, Elsie C. Crane, and Bernice Ann Ryals. The family would like to thank Dawn Culpepper Ward and the staff of Fellowship Home at Cordelia Manor for their love and compassionate care the past two and held years as well as the support and excellent care provided by the Reflections Hospice Team of Crisp Regional.

Memorials to Reflections Hospice, 202 East 4th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015 would please the family.
