Rachael Jones Cook, 74 of Cordele, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from Advanced Lewy Body Dementia. She was at the home of her son and his wife, Cary and Julie. A private graveside service only will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020. The service will be live-streamed from Rainey Family Funeral Service’s website at www.raineyfuneral.com and their Facebook page.
Born in Americus, Rachael was the daughter of the late David Ross Jones, Jr. and Ellie Stapleton Jones. Rachael was a Registered Nurse, dedicating her life to helping others. She retired from the Crisp County Health Department. A member of Pinecrest Baptist Church, she was a faithful Christian always willing to help others in their time of need. She loved and served her Lord, always doing whatever needed to be done and never wanting any credit for her work.
Rachael loved her family, especially her husband of 51 years. She had a smile and a word for all that she met and her wit and sense of humor stayed with her till the end. Later in life she enjoyed reconnecting and staying in touch with old friends and classmates from years past. Her family, husband, children and her grandchildren made her happiest. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Burton Cook, Jr. of Cordele; three children and their spouses, Cary and Julie Cook of Cordele, Rebecca and Thad DiGiuro of Atlanta and Ross and Wendy Cook of Valdosta; a brother and his wife, Ellyn and Mary Jones of Centerpoint; and nine grandchildren, Ellie Cook, Hannah Cook, John Cook, David Cook, Sophia DiGiuro, Annie DiGiuro, Kylie Cook, Kolbie Cook and Kate Cook. The family would like to say thank you to Janice Anderson, Shakeveyia Daniels, Diane Johnson and Sammy Fields for the loving care that they gave to Rachael on a daily basis.
Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services. An online guest register is available at www.raineyfuneral.com.
