Remains found in Wilcox house fire delivered to GBI crime lab

- Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed this home on Main St. in Seville at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday and took the life of the resident sleeping inside. The resident has not been formally identified pending results of an autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab.

Wilcox County Coroner Janice Brown has delivered the remains found in an early Monday morning Seville house fire to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy, she said Tuesday morning.
First responders answered the call to a house fire at a Main St. residence located half a block north of 2nd St. at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday. Neighbors reportedly heard lightening strike in the vicinity and called 911.
Brown said the cause of the fire is formally still under investigation and the body of the resident killed in the fire has not been formally identified yet pending the outcome of the autopsy. No foul play is suspected, Brown added.
