Henry Albert Pridgen, Jr., 85, of Cordele, Georgia, passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2020 at his residence. Born in Cordele, he was the son of the late Henry Albert Pridgen, Sr. and Dixie Dean Carswell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Gay Pridgen, brother, William Carswell Pridgen, and sister-in-law, Anna Margaret Pridgen of Cordele.
Henry graduated from Cordele High School in 1953 and North Georgia College in 1957. After graduating from college, he entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the military, he earned a master’s degree in education and devoted the remainder of his career to teaching and vocational education administration. Henry was a faithful member of Cordele First United Methodist Church, Wesley Sunday School Class, and an active member of the Cordele Kiwanis Club. He had a sharp quick wit and always had a smile and a kind word for all that he met. Henry loved to fish and hunt, especially turkey, and camp with his many beloved hunting buddies. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors include his children, Leslie Pridgen Johnson and her husband, Dean of Macon and Paula Pridgen Farmer and her husband, Kelly of Athens and Dr. Henry Albert Pridgen, III of Albany; and four grandchildren, Lindsey Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Macey Skelton, and Blythe Pridgen. He also leaves three very special caregivers, F.D., Jean, and Veronica.
