Funeral services for Janie Lightsey Wells, 96, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Beth Southerland (322 Lakeshore Drive) Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Mrs. Wells was born in Cordele, Ga. to Thomas J. Phillips and Julia Bennett Phillips. She is the widow of William Lee Wells. She spent her life working in the family business. She was a member of Cordele First Baptist and attended Antioch Baptist Church.

She is survived by children: Lee Wells and Beth (Charles) Southerland all of Cordele and Janice Lightsey (Clinton) Ivey of Albany, Ga.; her grandchildren: Pam Ivey Sherman, Clinton (Sissy) Ivey, Jr., Jay (Melanie) Ivey, Kelley Southerland, Amy Southerland (Jon) Pierson and Julie Wells (Shawn) Wiley; and nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to especially recognize Denise Walker, a close family friend and Reflections Hospice of Crisp Regional.
