Eddie Daniels will succeed retiring Vienna Mayor Hobby Stripling after Tuesday’s municipal election. Daniels garnered 389 votes compared to longtime Vienna City Council member Beth English, who received 287 votes.

A runoff election must be held to determine who succeeds English in her seat on the council. Three candidates were vying for her council seat. Ann Stripling, with 303 votes, and Henry Johnson, with 290 votes, will square off in a runoff election on Dec. 3 to determine the winner of that race. Third-place finisher Kenneth Kellogg picked up 94 votes.

Two Viencca council members, Albert King and Randall Almond, won re-election without opposition.
