Shooting victim dies from wounds sustained in Tuesday incident

- A Cordele Police Department officer tapes off the entrance at the Hot Dog King and Stark's Body Shop, located at 1005 South 7th St., after a Tuesday afternoon shooting there left one local man in critical condition. A spokesperson with the Cordele Police Department identified the shooting victim as 24-year-old Jacquez Alexander, who died at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday from his wounds.

FROM A CORDELE POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE:
‘The shooting victim from Tuesday’s shooting has succumbed to his injuries and passed away around 3:00 am Wednesday morning. The shooting that took place outside Stark’s Body Shop, at 1005 South 7th Street in Cordele, stemmed from an altercation between relatives.
The victim has been identified as 24 year old Cordele resident Jacquez Alexander.
At this time, no further suspect information is being released as this investigation is still ongoing.
Chief Green adds, “This is a tragic loss of life and the family is deeply affected. Due to this is still a very active case, we will not be releasing any further information until formal charges are filed.”
