Henry Osmund Jones III, 73, passed away May 28, 2019 in Macon following a brief illness. His daughter, Amy Kessler Johnston, was with him at the time of his death.
Henry was born in Americus to H.O. “Son” Jones, Jr. and Marjorie B. Jones.
He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia in 1967 and a Juris Doctor from Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University in 1973.
At the time of his death, Henry was enjoying retirement, traveling and spending time in Oregon with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
Henry was a retired Georgia State prosecutor having served in the Cordele Judicial Circuit, Southwestern Judicial Circuit and Macon Judicial Circuit. Previously, he was in private practice in Americus. He was a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
Henry is survived by a son, Evans Jones of Americus, daughter, Amy K. Johnston and her husband, Daniel G. Johnston, grandchildren, William Johnston and Elizabeth Johnston, all of Eugene, OR; brother, Mike Jones and cousin, Randy Jones Jr., both of Americus.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 26 years, Barbara Anne Becraft.
A memorial service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Barbara Becraft Apprenticeship Fellowship at Ballet Fantastique (www.balletfantastique.org) or to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
