Betty Jo Summers of Madison, Ga., our sweet mother, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019, at the age of 90. She was born in Atlanta, Ga., the daughter of the late George and Cora Mappin. Her family moved to Cordele, Ga. where she grew up and married her husband of 50 years, the late Marvin L. Summers. They moved to Atlanta and enjoyed many years with their family there before moving to Roswell, Ga.. They lived in Roswell, Ga. for 22 years. She enjoyed going to Roswell First Baptist Church where she was the publications secretary for many years. Shortly after her husband passed away, she moved to Madison, Ga. to live with her daughter, Lisa, and her family where she enjoyed being around and watching some of her younger grandchildren grow up. She also enjoyed her church family at Madison Baptist Church for many years.

 She was also predeceased by her step-grandson, Ryan Wagner and her daughter-in-law, Susan Summers; her brothers, Curt and her sister-in-law Anna, Hugh and sister-in-law Margaret, George and sister-in-law Johnnie, John and sister-in-law Joan, and Hoyt Mappin; her sister, Edna and brother-in-law George Zollars; her brother-in-law, Oscar Summers, Jr. and sister-in-law Sarah Summers and sister-in-law Marge Summers.

 She is survived by daughters, Lynn (Larry) Woolard of Canton, Ga., Lisa (David) Wagner of Madison, Ga.; sons, Gary (Cathy) Summers of Lilburn, Ga., Larry (June) Summers of Palatka, Fla., Marvin Summers of Woodstock, GA, David Summers of Woodstock, GA, Jeff (CarolAnn) Summers of Southaven, Miss.; 14 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Miriam Mappin and brother in law Hugh Summers; nephews Scott Summers, Steve Summers, Greg Summers and Carden Summers and many great-grand nephews and nieces and Mappin nephews and nieces.

 A graveside service is planned for Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Ga. Arrangements are entrusted in Hughes & Wright Funeral Home, 1010 East Eighth Ave., Cordele, Ga. 31015 at 229-273-0012.
