The Fred’s Discount Store located at 102 E. 14th Avenue in Cordele is one of the 159 Fred’s stores across the country that the company has announced will be permanently closed by the end of May, according to multiple media reports.
A clerk at the Cordele store confirmed that it will be closing down and a inventory clearance sale will begin on Friday.
At least 25 stores in Georgia will close as part of the company’s downsizing efforts. This is a developing story; more information will be released as it becomes available.
