Virginia Clara Brown, a former resident of Cordele,passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at the residence of her daughter in Pitts. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Virginia, 76, was born in Cordele to the late Henry Dewey McKinney and Estelle Laramore McKinney. She was retired from Hall’s Cleaners where she had worked for many years. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her children, Joe R. Brown, Jr. of Cordele, Tammie Smith and her husband, Alan, and Joel Thomas Brown, all of Seville; a step-son, James Hinson of Warner Robins; a sister, Linda McKinney Williams of Barnesville; 11 grandchildren, Joe Brown, III and his wife, Whitney, Amy Marie Brown, Tiffany Avery and her husband, Josh, Kayla Smith and her fiancé, Scotty Sprague, Randy Smith, Joseph Smith and his fiancée, Jordon Key, J.T. Brown and his wife, Morgan, Jason Brown, Jacob Brown and his wife, Alexis and Crystal Brown; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Brown and brothers, Herman McKinney, Herbert McKinney, J.D. McKinney and Jerry McKinney. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
