A graveside service for Elizabeth Maddox Hughes, 76 of Cordele, will be held  at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services.

Liz, as she was affectionately known, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Crisp Regional Hospital.  Born in Americus, she was the daughter of the late Marion Parkerson Maddox and Omah Johnson Maddox.

Liz worked for many years in the hospitality industry and retired as the sales director for Merry Acres in Albany. She was a member of the Baptist faith and a devoted member of the Crisp Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Liz is survived by her children, a son, Billy Hughes of Vienna, and a daughter, Tina Orrick and her husband, Dwayne Orrick of Acworth; three grandchildren, Alex Easom, Kristin Easom and Rachael Hughes; a sister and her husband, Gail and Arthur Posey of Cordele; and two special nephews and their wives, Jon and Laurie Posey of Cordele and Mitchell and Farise Posey of Cumming.
