Water from this morning’s heavy rains are currently crossing roadways in some spots throughout Cordele. The water can create a driving hazard and motorists are warned to drive with caution.

Public safety dispatchers have received numerous calls notifying first responders about the standing waters. According to weather forecasts, the rains should begin to leave the area around midday. Standing water on roadways should begin to subside at that point.

Motorists who must travel on dirt roads in the community should likewise beware of muddy conditions that may cause sliding and result in bogged-down vehicles.
