Boy in stable condition after being hit by car

FROM A CORDELE POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE:
Officers with the Cordele Police Department are investigating a traffic accident that occured at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday between a Nissan Maxima and 11-year-old pedestrian.
The accident took place in the 1500 block of Hwy 280 (16th Avenue) in front of Wendy’s restaurant. The juvenile was struck while walking across the roadway in traffic. The child was accompanied by another 13-year-old juvenile, who was not injured.
The injured 11-year-old was initially transported to Crisp Regional Hospital with a head injury. He was subsequently transferred to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta where he is in stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.
“This is truly a sad accident, we will keep the child and his family in our thoughts and prayers as we monitor his status,” said CPD Lieutenant Andrew Roufs.
Due to the fact that this is an active and ongoing investigation the names of those involved have not been released.
