Wilcox baseball picks up first two wins of the season

The Wilcox County baseball team picked up their first win of the season on the road against region opponent Echols County last Friday.
The Patriots trailed 8-7 entering the top of the seventh inning, but completed a comeback victory with three runs in the inning to take a 10-8 lead. Wilcox held on from there to win the game. Brandon Brownlee, Rhett Davis and Brock White all finished the ball game with two runs batted in apiece. Branson Owens and Kam Bruce also tacked on an RBI each. Bruce, Jaydon Coleman and Clark Gaines each scored two runs, while Owens, White, Cameron Coleman, and Lagan Luke all added a run. Brandon Brownlee picked up the win after coming in late in the game and pitching two and two thirds innings. He recorded six strikeouts and gave up no runs on just one hit and two walks in his innings of work.
Wilcox 6, Atkinson 0
The Patriots then played their first home game of the season Tuesday afternoon and defeated another region opponent, Atkinson County, 6-0.
Freshman pitcher, Branson Owens put in a dominating performance on the mound for the Patriots pitching a complete game, seven-inning shutout. He needed just 88 pitches to carve up the Atkinson County Rebels, as he recorded 11 strikeouts and scattered two hits over his seven innings of work. He also helped out his own cause with the bat, going one for three with an RBI and a walk in the game.
Cameron Coleman, Kam Bruce, and Brock White each had an RBI in the game as well. Bruce, Cameron Coleman, Rhett Davis, Phillip Fisher and Jaydon Coleman each recorded a hit and scored a run in the game.
The Patriots play at Clinch County later this afternoon, and then they will play at Marion County on Tuesday at 5:00.
