In a game defined by defense the Crisp County Cougars produced just enough offense to pull out a win. “ I thought we played hard Friday night and we didn’t play our best game but we found a way to win, “said Head Coach Shelton Felton.
Jammie Robinson scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night, a pass from Patrick Felton to go up 6-0, then Brandon Thompson toed the extra point to make it 7-0 in the 1st quarter. The Cougars would do a punch kick that they recovered and after the 2nd quarter started they would score on another pass from Felton to Robinson and the Thompson PAT made it 14-0. Late in the 2nd quarter Crisp lined up to punt and the Green wave blocked the punt and a few plays later punched it to make the score 14-6.
The third stanza brought no points but in the 4th period the Cougars would punch in one more. “Felton and Robinson behind the offensive line took over the running game and shoved another touchdown into the end zone on a Robinson run,” as Coach Felton described it. The PAT was again good and the Cougars were up 21-6. Spencer would get a late 2-minute score and the final was 21-12. The Cougars were led on defense by Ahdarrious Gee, Quay Walker, “Big Cat “Bryant, Deangelo Griffin and Jahlil Taylor. The Cougars will be hosting Brooks County this Friday night for homecoming. “ Brooks has a great team and they play all four quarters of football hard and they also play hard nose defense and a high scoring offense,” said Coach Felton. “”It is going to be a great game.” Don’t forget some reserve seat are still available.
