CORDELE — A memorial service for Earl Wayne Buchanan, Sr. of Cordele was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Rev. Earl Perry officiating. “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “I’ll Fly Away” were played and the service was closed with “When I’m Gone.” The family received friends one hour prior to the service Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Wayne passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Crisp Regional Hospital. He was born in Coffee County and was the son of the late Silas White Buchanan and Martha Lucille Brady Buchanan. He was retired from the Maintenance Department of Helena Chemical Company. Wayne is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Hayslip Buchanan; two children Wayne Buchanan, Jr. and his friend, Ben Sims of Macon, and Kim Young and her husband, Ken of Vienna; four grandchildren, Hannah Carroll, Colby Taylor, Anna Young and Hunter Hayslip; two sisters, Frances Sims of Cordele and Nell Belflower and her husband, Bo of Unadilla; and several nieces and nephews.
