LAKE BUTLER, FL. — Freda Burton King, 84 of Lake Butler, Passed away January 25, 2016 at the Shands University of Florida Medical Center in Gainesville after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Dukes Florida to the late Walter F. Burton and Avis Dukes Burton Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Alexander King, a son Jerome Lee King and a sister Nelda B. Stewart. She attended the Union County Schools and went on to graduate from college with dual degrees in accounting and business education. Freda was a world traveler and loved to share pictures and stories from her travels. She attended the Trinity Methodist Church in Gainesville, Fl. And was a member of Gold Star Families and the VFW in Lake Butler. She was an avid reader, loved country and gospel music and enjoyed teaching people.
She is survived by: Daughter Mary Alana King of Zephyrhills, Florida.
Brothers: Jerrell (Clarice) Ellis of Lake Butler, Florida & Jerry (Frances) Ellis of Coffeeville, Mississippi
3 Grandchildren: David, James and Kristine King and 4 Great Grandchildren.
Freda will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with her husband and very near her son.
Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon February 1, 2016 at 2:30 pm at the Archer Memorial Chapel, with a short visitation starting at 2:00 prior to the service. The family ask in lieu of flowers that a donation in her name be made to the church of; your choice, Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
