Wilcox teen wins state crown

From STAFF REPORTS

PINEVIEW — A local resident walked away from the 7th Annual Miss Georgia Cotton State Scholarship Pageant with the Teen Miss Georgia Cotton Queen title.

Mandee Bloodworth, 14, of Pineview was chosen from a field of 61 young ladies competing at the event in late January at The Tift Theatre in Tifton.

She and other 2009 queens will be promoting cotton throughout the state. They will also be attending the 5th Annual Agricultural Week Kickoff at the Capitol, with Governor Sonny Perdue and other members of the state legislature, in March.

Among their other duties will be riding in parades, making public appearances and distributing cotton literature at various events. At the end of her reign, Bloodworth will receive a scholarship for fulfilling her duties as queen.

Bloodworth says she is looking forward to the opportunity to serve not only her community, but her state in the position that she has been gifted with. She is the daughter of Raymond and Karen Bloodworth of Pineview and is an eighth grade student at Wilcox County Elementary School.

Bloodworth is an honor roll student and member of the Jr. Beta Club. She is very active in FFA where she serves not only as a local county officer, but also as one of the Area 5 district officers. She is a member of 4-H and participates in both livestock showing and judging.
