Vienna/Rochelle —
The power rankings adopted in advance of the GHSA Class A public state football playoffs have held up perfectly through last week’s semifinals, but the computer Maxwell Rankings say that won’t be the case after this weekend.
Heading into the semifinals, Lincoln, Wilcox, ECI and Dooly County are the remaining teams after starting the playoffs with power rankings of 1-4, respectively.
Now, the computer rankings are saying the most likely state title game will pit top-seeded Lincoln against third-seeded ECI. If that prediction comes about, Lincoln will have beaten No. 4 Dooly and ECI will have topped No. 2 Wilcox.
Lincoln has been given a 55.49 “rating” for team strength, a 47.39 “draw” for the strength of its path to the title and a 443,557 chance in a million to win it all.
ECI is accorded a 55.63 rating, a 50.26 draw and a 377,948 chance in a milion to be crowned.
Wilcox has a 48.49 rating, a 54.39 draw and a 130,945 chance in a million to reign.
Dooly is given a 41.49 rating, a 54.39 draw and a 47,550 chance in a million to come out on top.
The numbers were provided by Georgia High School Football Daily, a free E-mail newsletter.
