Area cage teams have busy week ahead

Cordele — Crisp County High’s basketball teams will get an evening off, but it’ll be business as usual on Tuesday for the eight other area hoop squads.

On the public school front, Dooly and Wilcox counties have 6 p.m. outings on tap as the former visits fellow Region 4-A member Schley County and the latter plays host to Region 4-A colleague Irwin County.

At the private school level, Crisp and Fullington academies are set to host Randolph-Southern and Georgia Christian, respectively, in a pair of Region 3-A GISA doubleheaders tipping off at 6:30 p.m.

As the week continues the hardwood card gets even busier. On Thursday, Crisp Academy goes to Westfield of Perry at 6:30 p.m. and on Friday journeys to Highland of Valdosta at the same time.

Other Friday action finds Crisp County at Americus-Sumter, Wilcox at Clinch County for 6 p.m. starts, Fullington at Randolph Southern for a 7 p.m. tip-off and Pacelli at Dooly County for play beginning at 7 o’clock.

On Saturday, Crisp County makes a short trek to Turner County, Dooly goes to Brookstone of Columbus and Wilcox journeys to Telfair. Competition gets under way at 6 p.m. in all locations.
