Crisp County wrestlers win Turner County's Rebel Invitational

Ashburn — Crisp County High wrestlers continued their sterling 2012 season Saturday by handily winning the 10-team Turner County Rebel Invitational.

The 279 points racked up by coach Todd George’s Class AAAA grapplers were a whopping 45 points better than the 234 posted by Colquitt County’s Class AAAAAA runner-up Packers.

“I’m really proud of our guys,” George said after the competition. “We’ve been working hard at building our program and things are finally coming together for us.

“With us just now reaching the halfway mark of our season, we’ve already got two tournament wins and will have a chance this coming weekend at Fitzgerald to get a third tournament victory in five attempts.

In carting off the first place trophy here, the Cougars had three performers go 7-0 in their respective weight classes. They were Dillian Richter (195), Kaun Daniels (220) and Charleston McKenzie (285).

Seconds went to Jamie Still (120), Alex Pollock (160) and Sherrod Ruff (182) while thirds were posted by Jaleel Williams (113), Adarius Pruitt (16) and fourths were claimed by Trent Carr (170), Gregory Harvey (220) and Antwan Stubbs (160).

Now 13-3 in overall team competition, Crisp’s next regular season matches comes Wednesday at Fitzgerald High.
