From STAFF REPORTS
HAWKINSVILLE — Continuing to sparkle in all phases of the game, the Wilcox County Middle School baseball team blasted Hawkinsville 11-1 Thursday to improve its record to 6-0.
It did take the visitors a little while to get started as for two innings they were involved in a scoreless tie. From that point on, it was all Wilcox, though, as it scored seven times in the middle three innings and posted its last four runs in the final frame to ultimately win with ease.
Winning pitcher Greyson Farrow effectively worked three pitches while holding the home team to just two hits in six innings. Hawkinsville, which had four batters to strike out and three to walk, had collected 14 hits in an earlier loss to Wilcox.
Josh Jackson, who issued one free pass and also struck out the side in the seventh, led the future Patriots at the plate with a pair of doubles and a single.
Drew Ellis and Brandon Martin, who along with Ruben Schaapman sparkled in the field, each banged out a pair of singles. James Wessel socked a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double.
