MOULTRIE — A 12-and-under baseball team representing Crisp County in Georgia Recreation and Parks Association district competition got off to a good start Monday.
Following the lead of pitchers Travis Turner and Bradley Hough who combined on a two-hitter, the Crisp team crushed Thomasville 15-1 in its opening game.
Turner, who worked the first two frames, struck out five and walked one. Hough, who toiled the last two innings of the game shortened by the mercy rule, fanned six and issued no free passes.
Chief offensive support for the two hurlers came from Braden Shealy and Ben Hyde, each of whom numbered an inside-the-park homer among the two hits they managed in the contest. Turner, Zack Minshew and Hunter Slade also belted a pair of hits.
