CORDELE – Crisp County Leisure Opportunities Department officials have released the names of players chosen for the various all-star teams that will be representing it in tournament play.
District competition at various sites is set for June 22-29 with state play scheduled July 9-12 for live-pitch baseball and July 10-12 for softball and pitching machine baseball.
Members of coach Bryan Cobb’s 8-and-under boys team that plays at Sumter County are Bailey Barfield, Austin Cobb, Cooper Folds, Taylor Jeffers, Gaige Little, Tanner Massey, Jackson Musselwhite, Blake Odom, Clay Owens, Reese Prather, Bailey Stephens and Trey Williams.
John Stokes is the head coach of the 10-and-under boys baseball squad that plays at Bainbridge. Its players are William Bodrey, Adam Burnett, Brody Helms, Kasey Herrington, Devin Howard, Ty Johnson, Will Lanneau, Austin McIntyre, William Purvis, Granger Sullivan, Joseph Stokes and Aaron Titshaw.
Making up the 12-and-under boys team of head coach Aaron Pitts and playing in Moultrie are Austin Fallaw, Scott Hammonds, Bradley Hough, Jacob Hughes, Ben Hyde, Zack Minshew, Braden Shealy, Hunter Slade, Travis Turner, Bige Veal, Tristan Winborne and John Wright.
The 14-and-under boys baseball team consists of Rush Brown, Drake Dozier, Kory Herrington, Jordan Howard, Christopher McGinnis, Gage McMillan, Chip Posey, Corey Stewart, Ty Turner, Landon Whitman, Hunter Winborn and Matt Wright. Jody Brown is the head coach of that squad that plays at Moultrie.
Coach Ricky Murray’s 8-and-under girls softball team members who will play here are Brittany Bertelson, Allie Brown, Abby Hayes, Adriane Lynn Hayes, Annie Laurie Hays, Rachel Hopper, Ivy Lewis, Kylee Rae Little, Lauren McIntyre, Kaylee Moore, Mia Murray and Brianna Summers.
Comprising the 12-and-under girls softball team that plays at Bainbridge under the direction of head coach John Thompson are Megan Butterworth, Savannah Brown, Lauren Clements, Megan Coleman, Julia Davis, Mandie Foster, Torie Holmes, Bailey Leger, Shane Phinney, Sumer Powell, Callie Strange and Savannah Thompson.
The 10-and-under girls softball squad led by head coach Wes Jenkins consists of Grace Atherton, Maggie Atherton, Leah Butterworth, Emily Faircloth, Olivia Folds, Parker Krause, Sidney Folsom, Carson Pack, Sydney Peavy, Katie Pope, Amanda Smith and Jessica Tison.
Their machine pitch district tournament will be played here, with the first game for the Crisp team set for 6 p.m. Monday on Field 5 vs. Lee County.
The winner plays again Monday at 7:15 p.m. on Field 4 vs. the Bainbridge-Grady County victor. The loser also plays at the same time on Monday but on Field 1 against the Grady County-Bainbridge loser.
Representatives from Thomasville YMCA, Tift County, Sylvester and Moultrie are also in the field.
To be played at the Eighth Avenue Youth Ball Complex through June 25, daily admission for the tournament is $2 for adults and $1 for children 6-12. Youngsters 5-and-under will be admitted free.
